BIP-39 Word Hunter
4-Letter Steel Plate Stamping & Checksum Magic
Ever wondered why metal backup plates only provide 4 stamping slots per word? Test it out by typing only the first 4 characters from Bitcoin's 2,048 standard words!

Target: "ORANGE"
Type the first 4 characters of this word into the input below to see if BIP-39 uniquely resolves it.
🧮 The Mystery of Word #12: What is Checksum?
In any 12-word recovery set, the final word is not random. It embeds a SHA-256 cryptographic checksum calculated from the preceding 11 words. If you misspell or swap a single word, hardware wallets immediately alert: "Checksum Mismatch!"
Mock 12-Word Seed Sequence:
1. abandon 2. ability 3. able 4. about 5. above 6. absent 7. absorb 8. abstract 9. absurd 10. abuse 11. access 12. action (✓)
Experiment modifying Word #11 to see checksum validation:
✓ Checksum Valid: Word #12 ("action") mathematically matches the first 11 words. Device accepts restoration.
💡 What You Learned from BIP-39:
- The 2,048 English BIP-39 words were engineered so that no two words share the same first 4 letters.
- For shorter 3-letter words (e.g. cat, dog, sun), the entire word is recorded.
- Metal plates only require 4 slots per word, saving space while guaranteeing indestructible heat tolerance up to 1,400°C.
- The final checksum word prevents accidental typos from resulting in loss of funds!
