Let’s break down the anatomy of a Bitcoin transaction:

🔄 Inputs & Outputs

  • Inputs: References to previous UTXOs being spent, accompanied by unlocking scripts (signatures).
  • Outputs: Amounts assigned to new locking scripts (recipient addresses and change back to sender).

If total Input value exceeds total Output value, the remaining difference is automatically claimed by miners as the Transaction Fee.

🧠 Today's Key Takeaway

  • Transactions take existing UTXOs as inputs and produce new UTXOs as outputs.
  • Input minus Output difference equals the fee paid to miners.
